Joan Vilà: "No one better than Xavi can bring back Barça's good times".

The former Barça youth football coordinator, considered Xavi Hernández's footballing peer, believes that the Terrassa-born coach is the best option to replace Koeman.

The praise for Xavi Hernandez is becoming more and more widespread around Barça, while the club is trying to close the deal to bring him in as a coach as soon as possible.

However, Joan Laporta will not send an emissary to Doha because he hopes that Xavi himself will come to an agreement with Al-Sadd, his club, to terminate his contract and sign a new one with Barça, which will take him back to Ronald Koeman, who was sacked on Thursday at half-time after the 1-0 defeat at Rayo Vallecano.

To find out a bit more about what Xavi can bring to Barça, this Thursday El Tu diràs interviewed Joan Vilà, former Barça youth football coordinator and Xavi's footballing partner. In this sense, Vilà believes that the coach from Terrassa is the best option to replace Koeman at the head of the blaugrana bench.

"In these moments, Xavi can contribute something important, which is consensus; the majority of the culers want him to return, I am convinced that there is no one better than Xavi to bring back the good times for Barça", he explains.

Joan Vilà has worked almost all his life in Barça's youth football, until he left the post of head of methodology in 2018, when Pep Segura was the club's general sports manager. In his long career as a trainer, Vilà has played a very important role in the development of footballers who have gone on to become legends of the blaugranes, such as Carles Puyol and Xavi Hernández himself.
